I met up with an old friend at a gig back last year, her daughters birthday was coming up and I was asked to think about a bangle design to reflect a base metal bangle she had and loved, to think of something similar in its fluidity and movement with a nod to Celtic work.
An easy option would have been to simply recreate in Sterling Silver but I never want to directly copy something it feels wrong, unless it’s your own design of course.
I just wanted to be inspired by the simple beauty and movement of the piece.
Surreptitiously showing the lady in question my design ideas for an upcoming “exhibition” of works she chose this design as her fave so I set about manufacturing this 3D torque bangle which proved trickier than first planned but we got there in the end see picture number 2, a start again moment!
It looked wonderful on the wrist, I had it stamped with an extra large Hallmark and the owner's name to add a little something to really personalise it.
It came back after the birthday for a fitting to tweak to sit perfectly on her wrist, as it was a surprise its not always possible to get sizings right beforehand, this is the wonderful part of having things custom made, they are designed and pefectly tailored for you. 👍🏻👌🏻
