Golden Mecca Bingo Dabber

Much of what I do is remodelling of existing pieces, utilising and recycling what we already have to bring it into the present day from broken chain to very sentimental pieces combining them often to have something to cherish for generations.

So when I get a request to make something Ive never done before its all very exiting and quite the adventure!

Mecca Bingos PR manager Sarah Barnes approached me to make a silver bingo dabber to be gold plated set with crystals with a crown like lid in time for the Kings Coronation to celebrate the big day so I set about designing around their iconic shaped dabber.

I thought it was important to represent the Mecca colours with stones which would also mirror the body of the dabber round the crown.

Once designs were finalised I began construction out of 1.5mm thick Sterling Silver sheet forged into shape with quite a lot of chasing and constant measuring.

Here it is in its different manufacturing stages.

I then hot footed it up to the London Assay Office where it was beautifully hallmarked including the Kings Coronation stamp of course!

My mark is the SWJ in a very particular shaped box so you can destinguish my mark from others.

Then onto F Sinclair platers who expertly finished the job by Electroplating it in 2 microns of 18ct Gold, handed it safely to a courier who got it to its photo shoot at Mecca HQ

Cracking job and very pleased with the results!
